I have been out of the game for so long.

Combined with a decent full featured 88 key keyboard (Korg OASYS, wishfully, most likely a Korg M3), what stuff do people have in their racks these days, other than a UPS, and an interface box for mics?

Also, what is some good software that people use these days? I liked Cubase way back when, but I won't buy Steinberg because of their stupid USB license key dongle and their policy of "lost the dongle, rebuy our stuff". One alternative is a MacBook + Logic Studio, because Apple seems to cover the whole range here.

Crap, I'm brain dead, please move to foo. :(

I pretty much have a Mac, an interface, a controller board, mics, and a keyboard. The built-in amp simulators and effects in garageband are good enough that I don't bother with hardware effects or hardware compression anymore.

The software stuff still lags behind what you can do with hardware (particularly amp simulation) but it's getting close enough for my purposes.
