Last night I retired my Raleigh 20's rear Big Apple tyre. So I retyred it. (Sorry couldn't resist :D )

Here are pics of the tread surface. Baby checkout those cuts! In a few places the Slime liner showed through. This tyre has done about 11,000km. From touring Tassie to commuting through thick and thin to winning King of the Mountain when the rear hub broke.

If it wasn't for those huge cuts and the Slime liner showing through, it would still be going as it is not worn through.

Man, what do you guys do to wear out tires like that? I've yet to wear out ANY tire in that condition in all my years of cycling! When they start to develop too many flats, I change them but they NEVER look that bad! Do you guys skid alot?

Jur, That's nothing!!....why, I wear mine right down to the rim, then I keep riding on the rim ....gets a bit rough at times and it certainly explodes your theory of smaller wheels not being harsh
