I thought I had seen in a post someone collecting Bottecchia Serials. Maybe T-Mar????

Anyhow..bought this rough Bottechia today for $20. Entry level. Campy d's/Universal brakes. Bent forks...not really sure why I bought it...impulse buy I guess. Thought maybe I'd want the shifters and D's one day.

Serial #248470

Would this be a Special? No model name on it. Late 60's?? Or Early 70's?

Also any tips on cleaning the D's to try to make them shine again or are they way gone??

Yes that is a Special, you can tell by the chrome lugs and Valentino derailleurs. I don't know of anyone collecting serial numbers though. I don't think those derailleurs ever truely shined except for the chrome cage plate of the front. They were always a kind of dull aluminum color. The lugs are kind of unique or at least different from what you typically see. If you decide to part it out, PM me, I might be interested in the stem and bars if they are original.

The lugs are what sold me on it...that and the $20 price tag. Unfortunately the paint is pretty rough..and the decals.

The dérailleurs cleaned up really good...only still that dull look like you mentioned.

The Stem is ttt. No idea if that or the bars are Orig. no markings on them anywhere. I just bought it from a junk shop.

I'll PM you.
