Classic & Vintage - Classic Steel? Dave Moulton...anyone

Hey there, I used to work for a frame builder named Dave Moulton back in the early 80's. He is British and built his own custom stuff as well as under 'sir names' John Howard, FUSO, Recharche, and others. Anyway, while I was there he built me 3 custom bikes, a criterium/road bike, a track bike and a mtn. bike. I still ride my steel road frame, and am just wondering if any other forum users are on his rides?

Just a side note...one of my roomates back then, Russell Denny needed a job and I took him to work with me and he started working with Dave when I left. He started brazing and Dave taught him the ropes. Now Russ Denny is a pretty well known name out here in California for custom bikes. Russ is still local too.

Ya Jay, ----Just registered on bike forums and saw your post about working for and riding Dave Moulton's creations! What an experience you must have had. I got a Fuso in Fresno, Ca back in 79. Still have it with the Suntour Superbepro comps but don't ride it! Thinking of selling it? Riding my Lynskey and lovin it!!!

Jay hasn't posted here in 16 months, but his website appears to still be active if you're trying to reach him.

Dave checks in here from time to time and is pretty good about keeping his blog current. He is retired from framebuilding and lives in Charleston, SC, these days.

I've been looking for one Dave's bikes to add to the stable. I was wondering if anyone had a ride review for his bikes? I'm looking for a bike that would work for longer rides but still fast, and how would they compare to my '88 Paramount. My crit days are long behind me, lol.

Top notch. I worked at Moulton/Fuso dealer back in the 80's/early 90's and was very impressed with the bikes.

I've owned two Fusos, an early FRX and a later LUX, which I wish I still had. The later ones (those that came after his visit to Davidson) are supposedly a whole other strata. Russ Denny built the last of the Fuso run. I had an opportunity to buy one of those, but hesitated too long and it (regretable but thankfully if there is such a thing) ended up with another C&Ver. I think I would still rather have one of Dave's early Special Criteriums, Recharches, or—perhaps my holiest of holy grails—one of the Kirkbride/Denny 3V Repros.
