Road Cycling - what do you think about these two bikes?

I've been to a couple of bs's around town and found a couple of bikes that I was interested in.

1.) Giant TCR '07 (http://www.jejamescycles.com/specifications/giantTcr107.html)

2.) Specialized Allez '08 (http://thebicyclechain.com/itemdetails.cfm?id=1268)

anyone know anything about these bikes? personally, I found the Specialized to be a bit more in tune, but what do I know? This will be my first road bike purchase. $800 is about the price I want to spend.

Are you sure it's the TCR1 you can get for $800? The parts on the TCR and heads and shoulders above the one on the specialized. If the price is the same, the TCR1 hands down.

I wouldn't go with the Allez either way... way too expensive and you get sora shifters.

That Giant completely picks up that Specialized and body slams it. No comparison.

i just posted the first pics I found online that seem to be the same as the ones I saw. Either way, the Giant over the Specialized huh?

Well I hope you got the bikes right because there can be $800 and $5,000 bikes that "look" about the same LOL . That could be a whole different ball game here.

I doubt that Giant is $800.00 with Ultegra and Dura Ace. If it is.....jump on it.

Doesn't the TCR come with a 105/Ultegra mix? Either way, go with the Giant if you can get it at that price.

I went to one bs and they had the giant leftover from their '07 stock. It is brand new with a sweet smoke/silver finish. they said they normally sell them for $970 but since it is last years model, they took 20% off. the wanted $780 for it.
