What the heck is a "pump peg"? I read about it in a review and for the life of me I have no idea what that is.

It is a small nub on the back of the head tube, under the top tube that fits into an indentation in the top of a frame pump to help hold it in place. It is something that is becoming less and less common these days, and is generally a hallmark of a quality framebuilder.

THAT'S what that is? I have one of those. I guess I need to get a pump now! Thanks a bunch!
I think if you want to get a pump that actually utilizes the "pump peg" you might need to get one of those super long "frame pumps" that is about the length of an average top tube and will fit into that pump peg. Not sure if the newer frame pumps even utilize that but I don't have a frame pump so I wouldn't know.

If you get a frame pump, do you fellow riders a favor and spend $5 on a frame pump strap to keep the thing from falling off after you hit a major bump. Ain't nothing like a frame pump rolling through the peloton.

Jay the smaller ones are usually referred to as mini-pumps. Frame pumps generally come in several sizes, you need to measure the underside of the top tube to find out which size you need. Also, laggard is correct about a pump strap being a good idea, although mine has never so much as rattled, and it can make a handy dog deterrent.
