I'am going to Lake Tahoe next week and would like any imput on doing a ride around the lake

My recollection is that going clockwise, coming down from Spooner summit, there are a series of runnoff drains that have a width of about two feet and extend through shoulder from the right hand road edge. They are deep, and if you drop into one, it will be like slamming into a really big pothole at very high speed. It is a very good idea to take the lane.

Edit: Today I was told by a friend who lives at Tahoe, that the road has been redesigned and the drains are no longer in the roadway. He said he hit one once, and lost both his water bottles.
