At parties I'm attending, I'll pound back somewhere north of 10 drinks, and if it's a really long thing, then it's somewhere north of 20.

For parties I'm hosting, I limit myself to one an hour, which is about right to keep buzzed but not blitzed.

Now that I live alone might knock down a 12pack a year plus special events like wild game dinner have 3-4 beers. Usually buy in singles just to try different types. I hate eating out because I'm alone and seem to be invisible half the time so I go at odd hours and may have a margarita.
My ex-roommate was into partying (beer and some weed) so I drank a little more back then.
I don't mind a buzz but hate being wasted or impaired.

I'd say I have about a beer every two weeks on average. But trying to lose weight and alcohol don't mix. I have zero tolerance now. I get a nice buzz off one beer. It used to take 3 or 4 to get a buzz.

Oh, I love a good beer! But I don't drink much 'cause I'm trying to lose weight. I'll still toss back a few brewskies when I visit my brother and friends on game nights or I'l have a shot glass of Jack Daniels occassionally in the evenings. Since I started bicycling, I've been drinking less alcohol and caffeine products.

I have Hep C, now with cirrhosis of the liver, and am told that I will die sonner than later if I drink,I've been through the treatment twice, and it does not work. I never was much of a drinker though. I used to be fun though.

Six to nine beers nightly, but I'm no longer a cyldesdale, so shouldn't be posting here?

Thank god, a normal person.

I brew beer at home, so yes, I drink. I love all types of beer. Don't drink wine, though. Also, though I love gin and tonics, I only have them on occasion. Normally, I don't drink more than 1 or 2 during the week, but might go through equivalent of a 12 pack over the weekend.

I have a Coffee Toffee Stout on tap right now that I brewed a couple months ago. it is tasty.

I may have a glass of wine, usually red, 2 or 3 times a week. Sometimes I go weeks without any. The last 6 pack of beer I bought lasted about 2 months.

I go through maybe a six pack of a good microbrew in a month, usually 2-3 beers at a time. So, farely infrequently. I also enjoy a good scotch from time to time. (Currently working on a bottle of Laphroaig 10 yo)

I love a few+ cold beers..........BUT they really do screw up my attempts at weight loss. It can be very counterproductive to eat right all day, exercise, and then at the end of the night, drink an extra 1,000 calories right before going to bed!

I find it's just easier to avoid booze all-together than limit myself to 1 or 2.

That being said, if I'm going to a Red Sox game, my buddies and I will be drinking all day

Well i guess for being 21 i am pretty lame when it comes to drinking, i think the most i ever consumed in one night was 13. (that was before i was trying to lose weight). But now since finding the cycling sport/hobby/lifestyle i very rarely drink probably 10 beers in a month, consumed in two-three events. Partly becuase i am trying to lose weight, partly becuase i enjoy the top teir import/specialty beers which are quite pricy and all my extra money is going into bike upgrades/accessories rather then beer. My cycling budget gets bigger and bigger and my beer budget is almost nonexistent.

I haven’t been intoxicated for at least 15+ years… I haven’t consumed any alcohol for a little over 5 years now. I don’t have a thing against responsible drinkers, but it’s just not what I’m into at this point in my life. My wife doesn’t drink either so that helps quite a bit.

I am 100% Italian, so what do you think?

Parents started me on wine at like age 9, so no big thing - didn't drink in H.S. or college. I have several glasses of red wine each night. Not a big beer fan - drink a glass once in a while - hard liquor rarely.

I drink about a half bottle of wine per month, usually in one sitting. The wife drinks the other half. Have not had a beer since about 1997 :(, for no other reason than I have not bought any.

This thread reminds me that I need to have a Mai Tai party! Nothing like seeing all your friends passed out on the floor after a few Mai Tai's..... Last Mai Tai Party was in 1999.

I'm an occasional drinker. It has to be a day that ends in "Y" or a work day or an off day for me to drink. Yeah, that's about it. Actually I probably drink a grand total of 3-4 adult beverages a month.

As much as possible until I cannot stand....just kidding...actually I quit drinking when I decided I was sick of weighing 300 lbs....I will have the odd beer now and then but very few and far between and will have only one at those times.

I've sorta tried to cut back, but I actually run a website about beer for fun. Though oddly enough these days I prob have about 6 beers a week, mostly just on the weekend.

My site is http://drinkcraftbeer.com btw

I used to drink legendary volumes of alchohol, I was nicknamed "the Tank" after everyone saw "Old School" and were reminded of me :D. A weekend would be Friday night, drink all night until pass out, Saturday wake up at 2pm nurse hangover, start drinking around 6, Sunday lay around all day and nurse hangover. 18 packs were my friend, and my friends and I had the "legendary" bar tab when we were in Glasgow, Scotland in 2003 - just north of $1,000 USD! By some act of the lord we didn't end up in the drunk tank, I'm not sure how though.

Three years ago I gave it up, and I can count on one hand the times I've been "smashed" since then, nearest time was my bachelor party a year ago - but I'm forgiven on that count, right? :D Anyway, I just don't enjoy that aspect anymore, but I do enjoy having a couple drinks with my wife or friends. Saturday night we had a wild night - each of us had three beers while we watched a movie. Of course we were in bed by 11:30... LOL!

I love beer, especially good beer, but I also love waking up early to ride my bike. The two don't mix, unfortunately. So I drink maybe 3-4 beers a month these days. As one of my friends said "oh how the mighty have fallen"... I guess? :)

I drink a lot of beer. I seem to have a Lite in my hand while working on stuff around the house. Every thing in our house needs fixin. I doubt that I even average 3-4 a night, sometimes I dont drink for several days then have a couple of Picthers with my wife on Friday night. anyway the point was that is still a lot of empty calories.

On Friday I drank about 8 beers and 5 mixed drinks, Saturday I drank a pitcher during the UFC pay-per-view fights and another 7 or 8 mixed drinks at the bar after. This is probably a big part of why I'm posting in this thread...

Last year I would drink a case or two a month, generally non-expensive utility brews and would go through at least one bottle of rum or Jameson

This year I am at a grand total of 12 beers, 1 glass of wine and 0 shots.

I see no point to consuming any of those! How does it help one's riding? Now hopefully no one thinks of Tylenol and Aleve as a drug or then I would be in trouble! ;)

Or I guess "food" is my drug...

What about steroids :).

Lets see, beer = liquid bread, Pasta = bread, therefor beer is an appropriate pre race dinner

A few glasses of wine per week, usually Friday night with dinner. Drinking to me is associated with a meal.

After thinking about it, I have had one glass of champagne in the last 8 or 9 years. Before that though, it was binge drinking almost every weekend. I really did not like beer that much, but favored the hard mixed drinks. One morning I woke up and looked at the people that I was partying with, and decided that I really needed to find a better way of life. I started hanging out with a better crowd, plus gave up the booze. Last year I found out that I had a condition called caffeine intolerance and gave that up too along with soda pop. I know that may be a little boring to some, but it was the right choice for me.

I drink beer because I like the way it tastes. I guess you can call me a beer snob. I will not drink the mass produced stuff like Coors,Bud, etc. I like a beer that has a taste to it (Sierra Nevada, Magic Hat, etc). If there is nothing else my default would be Yuengling although I don't like the taste but it is tolerable. That being said I don't drink to get drunk, I get bloated way before I have enough beer to get me drunk. I don't drink the hard stuff. I will have a glass of red wine every now and then because I read it can extend your life. Proof is my grandmom was 99 when she died(from a fall down the steps, she was in good health other wise) and she had a glass of red wine every night. I will drink about 1 case of good beer over the course of 1 to 2 months but will go sometimes 5-6 months before buying a new case in the winter. Didn't our fore fathers drink beer like water back in colonial times because they didn't trust drinking the water way back then?

I used to brew my own, but there are so many good microbrews now. I go through about a 12 pack of micobrews per week. And yes, it definitely helps keep the weight on. I love riding 40 miles, coming back, drinking an electrolyte drink and then a few Sierra Nevadas. I drink less with riding...it makes me a cheaper drunk, but I do like to ride to the brewpub. :P

My home church (Baptist), uses plain grape juice.

This seems sacrilegious. That one guy was famous for turning water into wine, but his blood becomes grape juice? It's like non-fat cheese!

Errr, that may be a bit of a giveaway on where I fall on this spectrum. When eating dinner at home, I'll have either a beer or a glass of wine that pairs well. When eating out, similarly, though often two glasses/beers. I'm definitely a frequent pub denizen, and depending on if I'm alone or with friends will usually have 2-4 pints an evening 3-4 evenings a week. Once every two months or thereabouts I drink too much. If I'm driving, I permit myself one glass with a long meal, 0 with a short meal, and don't drink if I join people at a pub.

I never drank a drop until my 2nd day of college. I was almost 18. Then a few weeks later I found out that my body had the ability to consume large amounts of alcohol with few side effects.

Now I drink for the taste of it. I like the taste of hard liquor and especially beer. I usually have a case of Bud Light in the fridge, which gets replaced every 2 months or so. I also keep a 6 pack of a more 'specialty beer' which with get replaced once or twice a month (Fat tire, Guinness, Heineken, 1554, etc)

I lost ~40 in college when I started drinking. Now that I eat better, I've found it wasn't the alcohol so much as my lack of food.

More than three and a half years ago, I might drink half a glass of wine every few months, just to socialize.

A year ago, I was up to a generous shot of whiskey a night and a stiff martini on Fridays (while watching Battlestar Galactica).

At this point, I'll have a Manhattan or a good quality cold sake three or four nights a week.

My twin boys are three and a half years old.

I thought it was pretty funny that a lot of my friends thought they needed to abstain from alcohol around me after I told them I quit drinking.

I have only had probably half a dozen drinks in my life. Other than Rum, I never found any alcohol that I actually like enough to drink if it was given to me, much less paying for it. Since, I started trying to lose weight in January, I have almost completely eliminated caffeine as well.

As long as we don't hold a dinner party, we probably go thru two bottles of wine a month. Dinners out merit a bottle of wine. I have no more than two glasses, my wife drinks the west. Nothing wrong with a little alcohol, as long as one does not have an addictive personality. In fact a little alcohol is good for the circulatory system.
