You guys drink? I've never been a drinker. Not even on wedding night! She might drink once in a while. A family BBQ, a dance but that's about it. She, maybe 2 or 3 drinks margarita types, me nothing! I tried drinking a beer but just doesn't go down no matter what I try. Ale, Lager, foreign stuff, just doesn't go!:D

I'd say half a beer every two years but I'm trying to give it up! Enchiladas? Now that's a different story!:thumb:

I've had two drinks in the past year:

1. Last August, following an auto accident, I had a vodka prepared for me by a friend.

2. The day I returned home from my recent tour I had a glass of white wine.

When I make beer can chicken, I'll finish off about half the can. That's not often. I did buy a 4 pack of Guinness Stout draft in cans because someone said its as good as the real stuff. The lied. I will take me about 6 months to finish the 4 pack. The last 6 pack I bought sat in the fridge for over a year, only one drank, before I finally threw it out. Used to go through a six pack of Dos Equis three or fout times a week. No more.

I used to drink...actually I still do....but I used to also. Hehe. Seriously though, I used to drink alot more than I do now. I do love beer and cigars though on occasion. Actually I am kind of a connoisseur of both. I enjoy in moderation. Now if food was the same..........

Alcohol doesn't go well with the several prescription medications I take. So, no drinking for me.

I go binge drinking about once a week depending on what's going on. Usually 6+ drinks. I almost never drink otherwise.

I had about 3 ounces of Zin port with dinner tonight. In the heat of the summer I have a glass of wine every two or three weeks. In the depths of winter it is more like a glass a day. My tolerance for the hard stuff is inversely proportional to my age.

Doesn't stop my sister-in-law! I tried to have a conversation with her on the topic but couldn't understand a word she said, so I gave up! Of course she was filling all her own prescriptions!:D

i think 2 or 3 times a year my friends drag me out and we get smashed :D. but other wise if i have a drink its 1 or 2 and thats it. i really try not to drink more than a couple because it screws with me sometimes for a couple of days after. sometime i feel like i have no legs and have seen almost a 2 mph drop in average over the same 40 mile route. :wtf:

after a long day of riding a nice cold beer will always put a smile on my face :thumb:

I'll have a few beers a week (I'm currently sampling Pyramid Amber Weisen). I have this bone in my head that says to drink like a sailor for the Super Bowl, but that's about it.

After a long ride, I'll pound a diet Pepsi, followed by alot of water. I'll pour a few beers after that (if'n I'm not too waterlogged)... you know, to be social.

I drank three pitchers on Monday to celebrate my best friend getting engaged, and married in August. I just wasn't expecting this kinda news at the bowling alley. I hitched a ride home from my old wingman.

Besides this..I'll drink once every few months. I'm still in college so that's good I suppose.

For a "real" alcoholic like me, none is better.
Sober 4 years after 20+ years of drinking ALOT.
I think it's o.k. for people to drink responsibly,
I carry no grudge or envy, but alcohol seems to
carry with it a great tendency to over-indulge.
I think a lot of people would be better of without it.
I do think that moderate drinking, if you are able, is
healthy and can accentuate certain events, like weddings,
holidays, etc. but then again, you have many examples of
people over-doing it, and, I'm back to my point of some people
being better off without it.
My point is, only you know if you are suffering any consequences
from drinking. Healthy drinking doesn't involve DUI's, hangovers,
domestic violence, jail, or things of that nature. I would think up to
10 drinks a week would be o.k.
Good luck and have fun.

So far I think I'm up to around 6 ounces this year. I did consume it all on a one time binge though, New Years Eve.

Now, if we want to discuss my old Navy days, that's a different story.

I drink way too much beer, usually 5-12 beers a night. It's been "my little demon" for about 30 years now. One of my New Years resolutions was to seriously reduce my beer consumption and with half the year gone, Ive made zero progress on that issue.

Before my medical incarceration, I was drinking 1 beer (well 3/4) per night with dinner and maybe 2 or 3 a work's friday "beer bash". Now it's nothing. I'm trying to decide if I should keep it that way or not.
It did help keep me "regular" and I had less upset stomach when I was having 1 a night (which according to many studies is true).

Now coffee..... Same thing, pre-hospital I was drinking 3-5 cups a day (5 days a week).

Zero.

I quit last December; haven't touched a drop since. Lost 35 pounds after I quit tossing back so many empty calories.
Still, I miss the homebrews. I made really good beer.

Beer is the thing keeping me in the Clyde class. :D

Used to drink a lot more, but cut way back. Cutting out the beer has to be responsible for at least 50lbs of the weight I've lost.

These days I'm really careful about avoiding a hangover as it's a great way to ruin a good day of bicycling. Sad thing is I'm now such a leightweight that 4 beers can give me a hangover the next day. :(

It's mostly a social "on the weekend" thing for me. Doing an 80 mile round trip ride out to Gay, MI for "The Parade In Gay". That and the followup fish tossing and chicken chasing competitons are best enjoyed with a few adult beverages. :D

Pretty much the same here also. Kinda sad when people NEED to drink to have a good time. We had open bar for the first hour--after that they were on their own. We didnt want to be responsible if anything happened after they left due to open bar all night---Also kinda sad when you have to make decisions based on what the U.S. has become with lawsuits and all.

I dont think i have had any to drink in over a year, my wife usually has a glass of wine or two if we go out to eat (not that often). I can easily drink till im sick and have done so at times in my life and have my favorite bottled beverages. I have lots of self control now. If have 6 drinks a year now, thats alot for me, and my wife too.

I don't drink much - good to know that if you're riding the next day & you drink alot the day before, all the carbs you had stored have been got rid of by the alcohol. Last time I had too much was 1991.

I'm a terribly heavy drinker.....

I drink sometimes a 12 pack a year. ;)

brewster1972

While I do not drink anymore I was a heavy drinker throughout my 20s. The average night would involve a bottle of tequila, a bag of weed, and a dozen or so beers to wash it all down.

Now that I am in my mid thirties, drinking has lost its appeal. These days I am more likely to grab a cup of coffee for my fix. I still have three beers in the fridge left over from a poker night that I hosted in February.

If you don't like it, don't drink it, last time I had a beer was 1993. You know I actually figured I had never liked the stuff. I didn't like the taste, I didn't like the fuzzy head, I didn't like the gas,,,,, I think the last time I had alcohol of any kind, was a sip at communion visiting an Anglican church, about 6 months ago. My home church (Baptist), uses plain grape juice, My family are all big drinkers, except one cousin, who has maybe 3 drinks a year,,,,, I am of the opinion, if you want me to respect your wish to drink, you should respect my wish not to.

One other point, if you do drink, you better not get behind the wheel of a car.....

The last tour, the rib incident? Oh, you're a 'deal with the pain' drinker?:D

The vodka was simply to steady my nerves after the auto accident. The wine was more to celebrate the tour end than to 'medicate.' Despite all that happened, it was still perhaps the high point of my life. Two years ago I'd never have imagined myself riding seven days and 254 miles.

I drink a "Fat Tire" every once in a while. I think I have had a twelve pack in my music room fridge for about a month and I think there are still 11 down there.

I had three last night, because I went to an adult party after our daughter's won the first round of districts. It took me over three hours to drink them though.

I drink about a case every 2 or 3 days. I never drink before riding though, well maybe one or two ;). But usually they are considered warm down beers. Plus I live in PA, so you can get Yuengling for 15 a case or Lionshead for like 11 a case.

Avoiding Drinking is good for GERD, so I stay away. But when I did drink, it was only at a bar or a social event. My biggest problem was drinking too much. It is a lot easier for me to say no than to drink some and then say no later. If I drink a beer or two and I don't "feed my alcohol" I get bad headaches, and short tempered. I also feel dehydrated. I am so much better off with out it, but most of my family still doesn't understand me. They get a little insulted if I do not drink wine at the dinner table, or socially have a beer.

Thurnau

Also my favorites were beer, and decent champagne. My favorite beer was either almost any German beer especially at October fest, some other imports like new castle or Samuel Adams. Most of the time I drank bud light as many bars in the area do not have a good alcohol selection. I try to stay away from hard liquor.
