Bjarne Riis has been reinstated as the official winner of the 1996 TdF, with an asterisk, according to the Danish newspaper Politiken.

"We can't rewrite history. Therefore we recongnize Riis as the winner in 1996. But with an asterisk," said Philippe Sudres, press director for the TdF. The article goes on to say basically that because it happened so long ago that the basic result won't be changed.

Yup, I just read this.

So Riis gets an "*" because he was truthful about his doping while others still lie?

That's a great system you've got there.
