hi,

I have a Speed P8 (2006, if that matters for size) and I need to pack (and unpack) it a lot over the next year or two (touring on buses and planes all over the US); I currently have the Airporter case, but I'm planning on selling it (waaay oversize); does anyone know if the P8 will fit into either the Samsonite 29" Oyster or the 31" F'lite cases that I've seen mentioned here? And if so, how little disassembly I could get away with? (I'm not very mechanically inclined :-/ ) I'm not good at removing the rear wheel and chain from the derailleur and putting it back together... also, is there a video showing how to do this? (rather than just pics of it when finished)
Thanks for any and all help!

Terry :)

Never disassembled my bike at all, but Gaerlan has a good pictorial guide to fitting a Speed in a case: http://www.gaerlan.com/dahon/pack.htm

If you are able to remove the 2 wheels, seat post and handlebar post, thats all the skill that is needed. Derailleur removal is optional - but make sure you protect it. Once bend, game over! I would rubber band the chain to chain ring as well.

Not that difficult really - 15 mins job after trying out a few times.

thanks... I've seen those pics before, I was just wondering if there might be a video, similar to what Bike Friday did, showing the actual disassembly; removing the rear wheel and chain and putting it back together correctly is my most difficult part.
