BART in SF now has areas in the cars for cyclists. Except the area isn't big enough, they don't hold your bike up and if the lard ass in the seat next to them stays put you can barely use them.
I guess it's a good step, but really....

Someone I know who sits on a BART/bike committee says the bar you are leaning on is meant to strap bikes to; and, yeah, where the clueless person's leg is sitting is the prime place to sit by your bike. Note that this is BART's fault not the poor guy who is just in an unoccupied seat. Another good idea with half-assed implementation.
Also, what is with no bikes on escalators while luggage and strollers are fine?

Perfect for a folding bike...

By the way, BART TV has expressed interest in covering the FolderFest next weekend! Should be fun.

I ride BART everyday and I seen only a few of these bike cars. What they should do is remove the bike restriction rule during commute hours.

Strap my bike? I'll try to take something to do that with next time.
The seat? maybe it should fold up automatically and then would HAVE to be folded down to sit on. Spring loaded and all. That way it wouldn't be such a default seat.
BART is weird with bikes. You can't take them on during most hours I want to, but again, SUV baby strollers are OK.
Folder: If I commuted every day, but I'm not getting one just because BART is all biketarded out.

+1 - I ride BART 3/5 days a week, and am always bummed that for me to bring my bike I'd have to stay in the office 1-2hrs later each day -- not what I'm looking for when I'm on the train at 5:45 in the morning.
