Two or three years ago I requested that our local Publix market get a bike rack. They did that. Today when I stopped by every spot was in use. I didn't mind at all locking up next to a handicap parking sign.

That's pretty cool. I just moved into a townhome community and am only steps from Publix (VERY CONVENIENT!!) so I always walk now but there seems to be more bikes there now than in the past. Today, I saw a teenager carrying his longboard skateboard inside Publix and later saw him riding it home with his loaded Greenwise (Publix reusable bag) bag fully loaded and resting on the front of his board while he bent down slightly to hold the handles. Very eco friendly and it appeared that he was enjoying it as well.

Hey, I've been to the Cocoa Beach Publix. They've had a cheap rack to the right of the door for a long time, or was that just funny railing that I used to lock up to, I couldn't tell. Last time I biked there was spring 2007 and don't recall an improvement in bike parking. Cocoa Beach is so flat I'm surprised more people don't bike, but there are usually other people out using their bikes. One of the bike shops used to rent bikes by the week so its a good car-free beach vacation destination. The Cocoa-Beach shuttle will pick you up at the train station and take you to Cocoa Beach.

Indeed until about 4 years ago the Publix had a rusted out poor condition rack that went away thankfully. Replaced about 2 years ago with the existing one.

Did you tell the manager about the rack being full and thank them for listening to the customers?
I'm not sure if that was a decision made by the local store, corporate office, or the shopping center owner, but a
nicely worded thank you letter could go a long way.

Heck, they might install another rack to handle the extra bikes.
