Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Ignore the crappy music and stupid comments. MetaCafe is a steaming cesspool and I couldn't find it anywhere else.

Can this even be done?

Totally worn-out/smooth tire; great, tight front brake; ultra low 1st gear; smooth road early in the morning with possible frost. Sure, why not?

Thing is, how do you generate the smoke if you reduce friction with oil? Smoke only comes from high heat and high-friction, so they gotta be really... smokin' them !!!

This seems unlikely. It doesn't look cold. The plants look too happy, rider is in short sleeves, no condensation when he breathes. Also, it looks too dry to support frost, there's no obvious source of moisture, and there's no frost on anything else like car windows.

My guess is that something has been put on the road or the tires of the bike. More likely the tires.

was sand...if you look closely you can see sand sitting on the road surface. The guys unweighted his rear tire as much as possible and riding the hell out his front brake. So, its possible.

Ok, that makes more sense. Use really low-gearing and stand on the front wheels and keep the front-brake on. Now I gotta go out and try that..

In this vid (unless I need my glasses or something) I see NO brake in front at all! Good shot of the front at :55.
