Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

We were having a great ride this last Tuesday night until one of the guys went over his handlebars. Dinged up his nice new Salsa too.
Compound fracture in his left arm. He even left a chunk of bone on the trail.
There's a little bit o' blood in these pics, click the image if you want to see them.

?? What's so graphic about this thread ??
EDIT: OK, I clicked on the picture and saw the photos. If I had one broken arm and someone was standing there taking pictures of me, I would get up and beat their a5s with my good arm.
I hope your friend is OK. That sucks :(

I like the "No Trespassing" sign on the trail where the accident happened.

Sue whoever owns that property. The "No Trespassing" sign isn't big enough and that road isn't properly paved...

That's what friends are for. Just think, they'll all look back on this and laugh. I can always rely on my buds to remind me I limped like Fred Sanford after my vasectomy. :)

I was wondering that too. I am guess an ill advised brake check? Maybe some hidden ruts on the trail?

Don't resort to rolleyes. He was smiling and his buddies were clearly amused.
I just can't think of any situation (barring catastrophic mechanical failure) where someone could fall on such an easy looking section of trail and sustain all those injuries (busted one arm, gouged up the other, smashed face). In addition to bike handling skills, there're skills involved with falling also. This guy apparently has neither.

umm, right. :notamused: You're probably one of those guys who make people wear a helmet while riding on the sidewalk..... then make fun of somebody who crashed on a seemingly simple piece of trail.
That doubletrack was actually very loose. Just bad luck. He's actually been riding before you got your training wheels.
Anyways...

Yep, that messed him up. He'll probably get a few pins for that one. Hopefully the Salsa is alright, too. :P
I'm guessing he was coming too fast down that hill and either over-reacted to one of those rocks in the road or locked his front brakes. Either way, that sucks.
