is there a bar tape that won't wear very quickly? I seem to go through the tape rather quickly and it eventually gives out where I switch hand positions. At $20 a pop it is rather spendy to replace. I guess it doesn't compare with car fixes though. Glad I ride so much and drive so little!

try wrapping it tighter, and overlapping more.

Or maybe use leather?

Specialized Phat Bar tape. Comes with gel inserts in either 2.5mm or 4mm thickness.

Sampson Fat Wrap, but I don't think its made anymore, lasts for years and is washable. I have some of the Specialize Bar Phat, will be installing it soon.

I use Profile Cork (no adhesive) over a layer of LeTour comfort wrap- a thin layer of self adhesive rubber that soaks up vibrations and keeps the tape over it from slipping around.

Right now I'm trying some Cinelli gel tape with some gel inserts underneath.
I bought my wife some of the Specialized Bar Phat and put it on. I may just switch to that next time. It's really Cushy.

no adhesive, eh? I might have to give that a shot.

I hate all the sticky crap that is left on the bars after I take off the old tape. the only thing that seems to get it off is mineral spirits...

I've been using the profile non adhesive, I find it easier
to wrap. Its pretty good in terms of lasting.
I'm thinking about trying the Stella-Azzura tape, I really
like the look of the stitching, very classy stuff.

Cinelli gel tape is what I like, comfy and you can re-wrap if needed because there is no adhesive on the back!

I like Cinelli best.
I just installed some Lux (reflective) tape last night.
I do alot of night riding.
The reflective striping makes the tape more durable so you can really crank it on tight.
Also, the stripe acts as a guide to give you a more even wrap.

I've never seen that. Sounds like a really good idea.

I love my cinelli tapes.. I have the older model cork tape installed.. almost similar to the lux, except the colors.

Mine has black/grey colors to match my bike :)

Ive had good luck with Cinelli. Right now I have some Gipiemme cork that I bought from Bianchi, (just for the color :) ). It's been doing pretty well too.

A friend of mine has 20 year old leather bar tape on all his bikes and it's still going strong !!
Just bought some Cinelli Macro Tape because it's very comfortable and looks the bizz.
Cinelli make a great range of colours.
