Use the rope to strangle the blue monster to death then go and get a ladder and climb down casually.

I would ask the monster to hold end of the rope til you reached down to the ledge. Then you can tie the rope from the ledge down to the bottom.

that depends on the strength of the monster. I would tie the end of the rope to the tree, and then ask the monster to untie it for me once I reached the second ledge.

Don't be ridiculous. From his bloodshot eyes and big yawn, it's obvious that the monster is too tired to listen to instructions. You're better off luring him off the edge of the cliff and using him as a soft landing pad.

You are correct.

You are correct.
Really? That's the answer? Then the blue guy isn't really a monster is he? Otherwise, he would try to eat you or hurt you and not help you. Why do you need to go down the cliff? (mirrors mrcrassic's post).
If the blue monster is such a creampuff, it would be easier to just kick his ass.
SPOILER ALERT - actual answer.
Cut off a 50 ft piece of rope and tie one end to the tree. Make a small loop in the other end. Those knots should use less than 6 feet of rope. PUt one end of the remaining 200 ft section through the small loop, and pull it through until there is 100 feet of rope on each side of the loop. Climb down the 44 feet of single rope and the 100 feet of double rope. Since you are about 6 ft tall, your feet will reach the ledge. Pull on one end of the 200 ft section of rope to get it clear of the loop in the 44 ft section. Use the 200 ft rope to descend the rest of the way.

I didn't see anything in the OP about a knife. How can you cut the rope?

A safe alpine would carry a knife.

he's referring to the big pointed stick 150 feet off the ground.

That ain't no pointed stick! If you compare the height of the cliff with the size of said "stick" then you know it's a natural ledge that was cut out of the rock thousands of years ago from the river that used to flow through there before the great drought. Don't you guys know anything??

Yeah, but look at the size of the person compared to the cliff. If this is an accurately measured drawing, than the person would stand roughly 150 ft high, and getting down the cliff would not be an issue. Also, the tree trunk and the "outcropping" are the same color, leading to the conclusion that it is a pointy stick.

Hi five Siu!
Just because someone looks different does not make them evil and threatening. It just so happens that the big blue fella has a quarter pound of really sweet sinse in his pocket and a pack of Zig-Zag's to go with. He's just looking for someone with a lighter (you) to share it with. :D
Ummm... on the "real" answer... what does the guy tie the rope to on the ledge at 150'?

The answer is a balcony knot. The knot is designed to be tied around an object, repelled off of, then can be retrieved by by pulling on both ends. Then you retie the knot on the branch and repel the rest of the way. We use 'em in the fire service. In case we have to repel from balcony to balcony.

I am really ticked off at the profiling society does against us blue-skinned monsters!!! We DO NOT EAT people any more....well maybe a little nibble now and then.....but that's only because you sapiens are so tasty... I'm getting my attorney!!

Wouldn't you need 300 ft of rope for a 150 ft drop?

Tell the monster that you have 300 ft of rope, and that a school bus has crashed at the bottom of the cliff. Monsters know that young humans are tastier than older ones, and these young ones will be injured and quite possibly already cooked, so they'll be easy pickin's.
Give him the 250 ft of rope, watch him fall 50 ft. and splatter, then continue to your destination.
(even if he is big enough to survive the fall, he will no longer be your problem once he's off the cliff)
