Foo - I might have saved a life today

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

On my way back from a chase call(a repair on the lake) a man waved me down. They had flipped their Sea-Doo, and the other guy took on a lung full of water. I got the conscious man onto the boat, and he helped me get his friend onto the boat. His pulse seemed strong, but he was struggling to breath. I was close to the marina, so we raced over to it(and radioed ahead) to get more help from better trained people. He coughed up some water, and fell in and out of consciousness while the paramedics worked on him before being taken away in the ambulance.
The Park rangers said I may have saved his life, but that he could still be lost. I sure hope he pulls though. I've seen to many people die out here, it would be nice to know that I saved one for sure.

A good feeling thing. Please, have no survivors guilt. You done good.
Good for you... It's a great feeling, isn't it?
Just remember that sometimes, when it comes to these things, you lose as soon as you start playing the game. Not everyone can be saved, but it sounds like you gave him the best shot you could.
You did good. Because of you he has more of a chance than he had before. You made a difference. Good job.

Good show BoSox! Keep us posted if you hear of any updates.I talked with a ranger tonight, and he told me that if I don't hear about him as a fatality that I can assume he's oky.
That didn't give me a warm\fuzzy feeling, but i'm pretty sure he pulled through.
Most of the people that I go looking for are DOAs, so I feel pretty good about this one.
My buddy the coroner joked that I saved him some work, so I feel pretty good about things.
Good work! I usually get there too late to do any good, myself, and can't say I have really saved anyone's life, who would not have been saved by another responder, anyway. (I wear a police badge.)

A great deal of EMTs talk about the "magic hour" - if you hadn't been there, he wouldn't have had a chance at getting immediate care - one of the nicest things a person can do for another...

I got a personal "thank you" from the man I helped yesterday. He tried to give me some cash , but zi couldn't accept it. That just didn't feel right to me.
When I went to clock out, I was given an envelope with $2000.00 in it.
yeah for me, but I felt like I didn'nt deserve it.

That money is going directly into the account I opened to save for my Vanilla. I've only got a little more than 4 years to wait.
