Hey Guys,

Anybody upgrade from an 02 FSR to an Epic? I was wondering what the riding diff was and was it worth it. I found a 2003 Sworks epic and was wondering if it was worth the money. Anybody have a 04 Epic. Just also wondering if I should hold out for an 04 with the new rear shock.

Thanks,

Bill

you just have to ride for yourself...

i have a '02 FSR XC and have test ridden a 2003/2004 Epic and we just bought a 2004 Epic for my girlfriend...

the FSR is softer and plusher and the Epic is harder and has a stiff ride.

depending on what you like, both work for general riding, XC, or XC racing...

but the Epic is simply more race-oriented -- less suspension bob (the FSR already has very little) and more hard/firm --- the Epic feels like a hardtail but since it really full-suspension you get all the advantages with grip, etc... just it doesn't FEEL like it

the FSR is more comfortable to ride, the Epic a little faster (only significant if you're racing or you hate the full-suspension "feel")

I'd ask myself first what kind of riding am I doing? If it is more aggressive trail riding then the epic would be a better fit. If it is more "BlackDiamond" type of stuff then you will want a bike with more travel like a Big Hit, Stinky, etc... If it is just your typical cross country then keep what ya got. Ride it till it falls apart then get a new one ;)
