I am looking for some opinions on this bike. I am hoping someone on these boards owns one and can give some insight. If not, what do you experienced tourers think? This bike will mainly be used for commuting, but I can do that on pretty much any bike. Also can I get some recommendations for touring bikes less than $1,000.

Thanks

It looks like a great bike and for under $1000, even better. There are no issues on this bike for commuting.

For touring there are just a couple;

- Frame geometry for panniers. Sorry I don't know all the chain stay / seat tube angle / fork rake stuff to know if this bike would have any clearance issues so hopefully someone will chime in. If you use a trailer there would be no problems in this department.

- 32 spoke rear wheel is a bit too light, you really need 36. Easy, keep the one that comes with the bike and buy a separate wheel that you use for touring, 36 spoke and mega range cassette, 11-34 tooth. Front wheel is fine.

Those are the only objective comments I have, subjective items like flat handlebars or saddle are a different issue all together but also just personal preference.
