Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Why do I want another bike?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I've got my fixie. I love it. Rides well, makes me happy. I've also got my mountain bike, convertd to SS, putting fenders on it for riding in the rain. I like it too.
But somehow I can't help looking on e-bay every damn day. Cool old bikes, cool old frames. Cool new frames. And don't get me started on the parts. So much stuff sitting out there waiting to be put together and ridden and loved.
How many bikes is enough? Does bike lust stop? How much longer can I resist the urge to get ahold of another frame and tinker?

I always keep a spare frame or two lying around, so when I get bored I can spend a day or two switching all the parts over. It feels like getting a new project, but at a fraction of the cost :)

i have 5 bikes and two frames that are sitting around...and no money, yet, i also cannot help looking at ebay.
familyman, have you seen the dura ace AX cranks that someone has up there?
i also found TWO sets of D/A 9speed downtube shifters that i really really want. i even offered to be two people's sex slave for two months if they got them for me. alas, the offer was passed up. :( i really wanted those shifters too.

I feel your pain/love! I have 5 bikes, and love them all for what they are to me. However, I still want more! I'm on a cyclocross lust-session now. I dunno if I'll get over it before I plunk down some change, but I hope not! :)

I am up to 8 bikes with 2 being fixed gear - I think I have a problem.
I end up collecting parts and frames and building up junkers, then giving them away. ...so I guess its not all that bad.
My name is nocoins and Im a bikeaholic.

Stranded~
Perfectly natural to want a few more in the stable. Took me eight years to get around to getting a fixed in the rotation and in a matter of a few months I've added two more. The latest today. Pristine Schwinn Paramount track with full Suntour Superbe track group.

I had I think 15 bikes last winter in my basement and still wanted more!!! It doesn't stop, I too have a problem with looking and "watching" on eBay, although don't really purchase anymore. I would say up to 5 hours a day (oh boy, that's supposed to be a secret...)

I'm thinning the herd.. well, I guess it never got too too big, but lately I've been moving a little too often. I have one mainstay commuter SS beater and am working slowly but steadily at building one other commuter tank that will be my catch all cycle for leisure rides and utility... the others (now down to two actually - anyone want to buy a Crosscheck?) - are sold or scrapped for parts. This way, wherever I may roam... I can just throw the two bikes on the back of the saturn and away I go.

Cut my mouth off? CUT MY MOUTH OFF?!! CUT MY MOUTH OFF??!?!!?
That makes about as much sense as a horse towing a tuna boat in the snow.
I'm wondering if I should get my espousa that no derailer thong for Valentines day.
I mean if she gets pissed off, there'd be no reason for me to worry about her reaction to the fact I plan on keeping the second Bianchi frame in my garage..... And building it into a city bomber (not sure if it'll be fixed or a SS coaster yet).

Uhh.. no.
Didn't want to join the Army, as the marines go first, and the Army mops up, couldn't join the Marines as I didn't have a criminal record, the Airforce was too corperate.. So I figured, hey, I like the ocean.. join the Navy.

Actually, I joined so I could be the first kid from our neighborhood with a KIA. I could always use a second one...and if I remember correctly, there was no Army representative in the Village People (sorry WK-you know the truth of the matter  ).
Based on what you say, all construction workers, cops, Native Amercians, etc... are all homosexuals. How nice. I will make sure Local 342 of the Cleveland area knows of your most recent discovery.
