On Thursday, I road a round-trip of 30mi.. It took my 5hrs.. By the time I got home, my eyes were bloodshot from the sun.

I would love to get some ideas on what kind of specific glasses to wear, to protect my eyes from the sun.

Go to any store and buy sunglasses that you like and can afford. I buy all of mine on the racks you see at quick stops with glasses for $10-$20.

Another source is building supply / home stores or hardware stores - buy from their safety glasses rack. They are just sunglasses, and often nice styling and reasonable price.

Or buy $100 glasses if you don't have anything better to spend your money on.

Never ride without glasses. Not only sun, but bugs, debris, dust, etc. can harm your eyes. Buy some dark ones and some light (clear or yellow) ones.

Or, if you can get them at a reasonable price, just get a pair with interchangeable lenses.

I didn't think of a hardware store as a possibility. Thanks for mentioning it.

Well I need my glasses too acctualy see where I rid, so how would I do. (Alright clip-on's I guess is a possibility, lenses are not, nor is new real glasses (Expensive))

I fish, so I get the glare from both the sun and it bouncing off the water. While the cheap store glasses will do the job, I've found my better glasses do a better job and have lasted longer. Of course, that pair is only for fishing, I don't wear them except, perhaps, on a long driving trip. The came from Wal Mart in the prescription section, though they are not prescription and cost $48, cheap protection. Mine are also polarized, that helps with glare too.

I would agree that anything is better than nothing.
That being said I want to put my vote in for Rudy Project.
I've been using thee for about 5 years now, mostly because they have a great prescription insert.
When I broke a pair a year ago they replaced them no questions asked.
They are over $100, but they also have a good outlet section on their website wear I got my most recent pair for a good discount.

And I'm not saying you have to spend $100, but I find the quality to be worth it.

when is the last time you had an eye exam?

i use prescription sunglasses...work insurance covered cost of both exam and glasses!

does your helmet have a visor? are you using sunscreen too?

I'm a big fan of Crews Storm (http://www.abcsafetymart.com/sglasses/sglasses06.html#b) safety glasses for use as cycling sunglasses/overall eye protection. They have a pivot at the temple hinge so I can raise the top to maximize my forward vision with minimal neck flex while riding on the drops. That's important to be because I fractured C7 years ago and have reduced range of motion. They wrap around the sides to reduce particle entry and provide unobstructed peripheral view. Plus, they are less than $6 and have a good, quality feel.

Mostly with the clear lens, but on bright days I have been spotted with the grey lens too.

Glasses are really important for me at night because of bugs as well as tree branches, and I find that the yellow lenses are great with rainy days.
