did 65 miles today and fought some "wind whipping down the plains" to boot....was shooting to do 75 but in the end felt like I pushed 120.....anyone have any favorite recovery strategies (other than ice baths which I do) that can help get my legs back in the saddle?

Slow recovery ride the next day. Eat some fruits and vegetables, and stretch well. Make sure you are very well hydrated, as most people don't get enough water and they suffer the next few days trying to get back to normal while still being dehydrated.

I've become a big fan of soy protein powder. Make sure you get some easily digestible protein in your body after working out.

+1

Spin fast, easy gearing, flat terrain.

Good bedroom gymnastics are pretty reviving for me - other than that, stretching and taking it easy for a day and getting back on bike for an easy ride asap.
