I just installed unit and was wondering if anyone knows how to change Time format,I'm stuck in military time format and would like regular/Local time format. Have to admit, being my 1st comp install it went smooth and flawless and works like a champ-Very impressed and the visual gear change is cool. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks

As far as I can determine that is the only time format that is available. There are no instructions that I can find that say otherwise. Sorry! Lokks like we have to live with that format.

I believe your correct, well not everything is perfect I guess, non time format option change and auto start seem's like the only flaws I can detect at this time.I'm using the wired Sensor harness and Mavic cosmos wheels and when I place my weight up front I do have the magnet hitting the sensor because of rim flex.Move sensor higher and tweak wheel for more gap or i'll install a smaller magnet to resolve.Who knows.
Only the one time format! Give it time, you will get used to it like the rest of the world (who are on the 24 hour clock).
Just push one of the buttons on the bottom to START the unit. It does have auto start once you start rolling! Not the easiest unit to learn though. The one thing I REALLY miss is the average cadance of my Specailized computer. I guess I have to give up something to have the convenience of the FD. Now all I have to do is learn how to use the !@#$@ thing.

Even when the unit is on, my FD sometimes turns off all of the functions except the clock. The arrows stop flashing and the nothing registers. I play around with the different buttons, and it usually will come back. No mention of this in the manual and I have called Shimano, but they have no clue about this. Any ideas?

Sounds like the connections on the back might be dirty , try cleaning . Also make sure the magnet is close enough to the sensor , on mine there are two lines and the magnet has to pass very close to one of these to work properly .
If you havea spare battery try it to see if it makes a difference , when the battery is low you see data but it does not record .
The other thing I would wonder about is weather conditions. If it is very damp and your unit is not making great contact with the harnes you may get some wierd stuff. If it persists and the unit is fairly new I would take it back to where you got it!! From what others have said dealing with Shimano is like talking to a very thick brick wall!! I get the impression that they assume any problem is NOT due to a problem with their product!!! Hay, it is man made and as such there will be some imperfections!!

Try a new battery before anything else.

I got a quote from my local Lbs on the flightdeck +install and they quoted me $144.00 out the door.I don't want to sound cheap but I bought the unit online and 45 minutes to install including programming and saved $70.00. :) Too Easy!!
Not everyone is comfortable messing with all the wires and tape! I had mine installed by the LBS when I bought the bike (on the advise of a friend who ownes a shop, but unfortunately doesn't cary Lemond).
I looked at what had to be done and it didn't look all that complicated to me. I probably couldn't have done as clean a job as the guys at the shop though.

Is this one of those computers that shows you speed, cadence, heart rate, blood oxygen content, cholesterol level, mph, altitude, air temp and humidty, ETA and also has a fully functioning casio keyboard built in?
No! It is a Palm keyboard that fits under the seat. By the way, the humidity function is often inacurate!!
Seriousl, it does give you a lot of infomration, but not more than a lot of the newer top end computers. It does NOT give altitude, O2, temp, incline etc. It is a cycling computer, not a toy!! The one thing it doesn't have that I would like is Average Cadance!! I like to track what my cadance is for the training circut I do so I can see if I am truely doing the workout I intenede to do. For me it is one more bit of overkill data to factor into my overly detailed and obcessive training spreadsheet.
The really neat and convenient thing about the Flight Deck is the way the controls are integrated into the shifters!! If I want to check my average speed or current distance I just push the button until I get to what I want. No more having to reach across the front to press buttons (which usually means taking my attention away from riding).

Only two wires and they just have two small screws that hold them inside the hoods. The hardest part is untaping and retaping your bars and setting up the head unit.

Jinkies Scooby, how much a gap do you have between magnet and sensor? I could throw a dead cat between mine.
Having said that, I did find the magnet would have been to close for comfort when set up the normal way. I wound up putting the magnet on the opposite side of the wheel. Works fine and dandy.
