Hello all,

I currently run an On-One Il Pompino w/ some Mavic CXP22s' laced to Formula hubs. For tires I run Conti Ultra Gatorskins on the street in a 28mm.

According to the Mavic site, the CXP22s can take up to 28mm tires. Do you think the Ritchey SpeedMax tires in a 35mm will be just too much?

I'm not planning any hardcore off road riding, just some trails and fire roads to get me used to riding off road.

So am I pushing my luck in running the 35mm tires?

I haven't run the CXP-22s, but I regularly run Open pros with Schwalbe Marathon Cross 700 x38 (I calipered the casing and it's a true 38) with no issues whatsoever.

I've run tires that wide on plenty of road rims with no issues. I don't see why the CXP-22 would be any different.

I also run the speed max on my open pro's and no problems there either.

According to the Mavic site, the CXP22s can take up to 28mm tires.Manufacturer recommendations for tire compatibility tend to be very conservative.
