Texas - Peach Pedal? (Weatherford)

Is anyone doing this or has anyone done this?

I've not done it but I've pedaled many of those roads and I like that part of the country. Some nice hills, pretty scenery, good roads. The ride has a good reputation, and the Peach Festival looks like fun. If I can get my training buddy in, I'll be there.

I'm considering it myself as well.

I did a short course last year with my kid on the tandem. Very nice ride and terrific volunteers. The terrain starts rolling pretty good about halfway so don't blow all your energy early.

Update: I am definitely in, with 2 buddies. They offer a 4 riders for $60 deal, so if you get 3 guys together, go that way.

I was going to, but to be honest i forgot all about it..

It was a good ride. Nice turnout, showers after the ride (yay!) and I scored a big bowl of peach cobbler and ice cream. The 100k route used a lot of county roads, very pretty with lots of twists and turns so you had to pay attention. A couple of uncontrolled intersections, and I would've like to have seen more paint marking before the turns - lots of riders blew past them and had to slam on brakes or do a u-turn.

Overall, fun, will do it again.

That cobbler that they were selling after the ride was about the best I can ever remember having. I felt so good after that I rode another 35 miles to make it an even century. My legs are a little stiff today though, 80 gear inches was a little much for some of those rollers.

Griffette and I will be riding on Saturday.

It was a good ride. 26 miles and no loose dogs and intersections very well managed. Most of my friends rode 39 but I wanted to finish earlier as my heat tolerance isn't so good. Mostly good scenic roads, 8% grade or less on hills. The shower afterwards felt great. I only do a couple of event rides each year and I'll put this on my 2010 calendar.

No, one of our bike club guys told me that about the 39-mile route based on his garmin. I tended to believe him since there was only one hill that put this Clyde-class Athena into quad-burner mode. Parker County is not flat but it seemed mostly rollers on the 26 mile route. I was able to use the downhills to advantage.

I did 95% of the 100K (bad toe took me out about 5 miles from the finish), and the course was amazingly flat. I would do the ride again.

Had I not been in so much pain from the toe, I would have been raring to go another 20 miles+.
