Melvin (the dog.) I have always had a knack as far as animals are concerned, but this guy is the smartest one I've ever owned, and his heart is as big as all outdoors. He even likes going to the vet. He is a border collie/lab mongrel.

When I was growing up in the 70s, my brother and I really wanted a motorcycle. One day, our father came home from work and handed us a Manchester Terrier. He told us the dog's name was Honda, and that was as close to a motorcycle as we were gonna get.

The most unusual names I gave my four footed family members were:
Nopets: Because there were no pets allowed in my apt
Noname: (pronounced No-nah-meh) Because I really couldn't find a fitting name so I just made "no name" sound Japanese.
P: Because P is for puppy

One of my childhood friend's father would not let he and his sisters keep a small stray. So they denied it existed whenever in the company of their father. The dog became know as "What Dog".

The Saga of the Boy Monsters:
First, there was Bakemono, a little boy cat. His name is Japanese for "monster" because he is one. Soon, a stray cat who looked just like Bakemono (long-haired grey tabby) started hanging around our house. We named him Fakemono (fake-a-mo-no) because he's a fake Bakemono. He moved in to the house, and another black and grey longhaired stray showed up. He had spots, so the only logical choice for a name was Spotsamono.
Bakemono still lives with me. Fakemono lives with my brother. Spotsamono is off being stray somewhere else. We neutered him so there will be no more little boy monsters.

My dogs name is Stay :D
I grew up with a Cairn Terrier named Mactavish and a mutt named Rascal.
My current cats are Black Walnut or Nut for short and Koa.
They have all sort of weird distorted pet names now like Kite for Koa and Noodle for Nut. I think they are confused.

When we get dogs, we decided that their names would be Lucy and Aspen. If we get a pig, his name will be Harvey.
A pig should be named Kevin, for obvious reasons.

When I lived in the country one of my neighbors took in a stray dog, who continued to have the run of the fields and woods around us. They named him Tick Head for apparent reasons.
My dog is named Lass, though you'd be surprise how many people ask if she's a boy or girl.....

I had a ball python for a while. I feed her live mice, and the first mouse I got, my girlfriend at the time named it Dinner. Then she couldn't let Dinner be eaten, so we had to get another mouse to feed to the snake. Then I made my girlfriend clean Dinner's cage, and Dinner promptly became dinner.
