Mountain - Plains - Breckenridge Rentals and Activities

I am heading with the family to Breckenridge for the week. Which rental place has good demos? I would love to check out different road and mountain rigs over the course of the week.

Also, any killer activities (esp. family-oriented) that are not to miss?

The MUP between Breck and the top of Vail Pass is a very pretty ride, do as much of it as the family is able to do and then take the bus back. Downhill from Breck to Frisco, uphill from Frisco to Vail Pass. The Peaks Trail from Breck to Frisco is an excellent MTB ride.

If you rent from Mountain Wave you can ride from Breck to Frisco, leave your bike at Abbey's Coffee on Main Street in Frisco, and take the bus back. Mountain Wave will pick up your bikes on a flatbed trailer and haul them back to Breck for you.

sorry I can't tell you what kind of family stuff to do, but I could tell you all about the great bars to hang out in if you were single.

on a serious note...... please check out great adventure sports or colorado free ride for bike rentals and demos not too sure what they have in stock, but they will have higher end demos ranging from road to moutain. There is endless trails and bike paths around to try the bikes out. Also, both stores have web sites you might want to check out. For family fun you might want to go over to keystone and check out the lift serviced trails, keystone bike shops have tons of downhill rigs you can rent. Riding the lifts for the first day would be a great way to get used to the air.

Theres a cool tour of an old gold mine just east of town. Its a little bit far to walk, but
it would be easy on bikes. I really enjoyed it.

The Breckenridge Brewery is really good. Its a family friendly brewpub restaurant.

Daylight Donuts is really good too. In addition to the actual donuts, they have a short order
breakfast kitchen too. The eggs are good, but I really love the meat pies (The Italian Flavor).

If you can find Four O'Clock road, you can hike uphill towards the base of one of the chairlifts
and take a hike on a marked fine-gravel hiking trail, or even get up to the ski slopes and walk around.

Theres a Bubba Gump Shrimp Co restaurant that looks so stupid, Ive never bothered to go.

Oh- I hope you like reggae, cause you'll hear it everywhere. Its a shopkeeper's favorite I guess.

I've never been to any of the brewpubs in Summit County (not a bar/pub person, I guess), but from what I hear the Dillon Dam Brewery and Pug Ryan's (also in Dillon) are at least as worthy of a visit as The Breck Brewery.

oh- BTW the Breck Brewery sells a long sleeve bike jersey among their souveneirs

Take the family on a Gondola ride at Keystone (or any of the ski areas, for that matter).

Hike to Lily Pad Lake, or South Willow Creek Falls (leaving from Mesa Cortina)

Be sure to get to the top of Loveland Pass and hike up to the top (if you can do it)

Concert at Breck Music Festival, National Repertory Orchestra
