Drove home (had to drag too much stuff with me to use the bike) at 4:30 from a course I was helping out with today (I usually get home around 6:00) and was amazed to see a total of 6 cyclists out riding in my 6 kilometre long drive! Temp is -10 C, 15F and we've had about 4" of snow today! Only 1 looked like a serious cyclist (the rest were all smiling :p !!) with a helmet and light, but they were all riding on the road on a not very nice day. I'm impressed!

They're probably paid pros! Call me crazy, but I don't ride outside in sub-zero temperatures. It's too harsh on my lungs. One could easily get a satisfactory workout on an indoor trainer, without the stressess of traffic, ice, etc.

Dang! I just gotta say that your missing some cool adventures by not riding in the cold and snow. I really enjoy the feeling of adventure and accomplishment.
I also have asthma, I wear a belaclava which helps to warm the air entering my lungs. No problems.
The indoor trainer just doesn't sound like much fun. :)

I agree, bob. Biking indoors is like... doing homework. Which is what I should be doing right now.
-40 degree wind-chill hasn't stopped me from biking; hopefully nothing else will.
Here in Toronto you wouldn't believe how many people are still cycling! I though that it would be much more easy to find a parking spot with the really cold temperatures we've been having lately, but there are still a lot of bikes and cyclists around!
