Awesome showing by Slipstream (Garmin, whatev) in today's TT, but one can't help wonder what might've been if Zabriskie was healthy.

As much as I'm a fan of Dave Z, I'm guessing he would have crashed out by stage 2.

Is DZ sick or something?

Injured his lower back in a crash at the Giro but he is OK. Probably won't be back in top shape until next year.

How 'bout that Garmin (Slipstream)-Chipotle team. I know it's early in the race but they are in first place as a team. We are very proud.

Well, when asked about DZ, Vaughters said he's training hard in Colorado for the Olympics. Didn't think he had quite the form for the Tour though.

What actually happened there? I could never get a clear explanation from Phil/Paul. Did he hit the train gate or slip on the tracks themselves. He looked like he was in a world of hurt then...broken ribs kind of look on his face.

It was a cracked vertebra kinda look, actually.
