For keeping your electric parts dry, what do you use?

I have a single 23lb 48V 12 Ah battery(NiMH), a controller, and would like to travel with the charger as well. Plan is to carry the charger and charge them at each end.

If I need to do separate bags for work shoes and other clothing that is no big deal. but carrying them together is desirable.

I am mostly looking for a waterproof solution and a cover is not going to be a big deal, since they usually are yellow and that just helps out with the visibility.

What do you use, what's been your experience? Any special precautions that you take to keep the controller cool while sealed up in a bag?

man I dunno... I'm always looking for good ways to hold batteries. I've had luck with some rugged camera bags and even tightly sealed plastic tool boxes. Lately been looking at the Dive shop stuff but haven't tried anything from there yet...

I was where you are now about 2 years ago.

I initially just bungeed the batteries to the pannier rack. I later found SLA batteries to be too heavy, and NiCad battery packs look like a bomb, so I carried them in my pannier, even though it made the bike heavier on one side. It is important that the controller be kept dry. Mine got wet one and went to full open throttle!

I'm not sure of your distance and hills et al, but I charge at work. I used to carry the charger, but when I bought a new battery pack, I bought another charger so I have one at home and another at work.

My first controller (Wilderness Energy) used to heat quite badly, but then again so do the batteries. In the summer I put the batteries in a soft sided bag packed with cooler packs. Everything goes in a hard plastic lockable storage container. You can check my journals for pictures.

As to carrying clothes, I roll mine up and put in a plastic bag. I keep a change at work just in case and some alcohol wipes, although my employer offers a shower and a secure underground parking spot.
