Just wondering if anyone has rode the new transitions yet. How do they feel? Seems like they've been doing well for gerolsteiner and the iron man guy

I've been looking at a TT rig for some time now and I've been looking at the p3c for some time now. It's been proven to be one of the best rigs available for some time now while the new specialized transition just made its debut. I also heard of this p4c that will be coming out, if it is for sure I may wait to see what it has to offer and try to get a p3 for cheaper.

Anyhoo, main question, can anyone compare the new transition to the p4c?

The rumor about the P4C now is that it will not be out for at least a year or two, until they can really make a faster bike than a P3C. But supposedly it is in the works. And then after all, there will certainly be rumors about a P5C once the P4C is out.

But good luck finding a Transition this year too. That will probably be a while unless you get lucky. Rumor is they are heavy, but otherwise pretty awesome.

They are a little heavy, but that doesn't make a difference during a TT. The aero advantage far outweighs any weight penalty. The Transitions are very smooth feeling. I've been a little faster on mine than I was on my Scott Plasma last year. The only issue I have is that I have to fly a couple times a month for races and the Transition takes a little longer than other bikes I've had to pack and unpack. Thus, (shameless plug :)) I'm selling the one I have.

I noticed that too. Maybe an old model he feels more comfortable with? Although the Tour participants are notorious for rebadging bikes during the time trials....

Walser. The old Spec TT rig was nothing like that.

Might want to wait on the Ridley, which looks very good and has the Oval style vents on the seat stays, though I can't see much advantage if you're using a disc wheel.

Walser. Gerolsteiner has been using those for TT since 2003.

agreed, i just took a look at some at mine too, none in my size though (54) so i would probably end up ordering one.

So anything in comparison to a p3c or any other suggestions?

I am mostly comparing the transition pro to the p3c, any comments on the components aside from wheels?

I just lifted up a Transition for the first time today... Man, those are porky. Granted, weight means almost nothing in a TT, but still.

I don't have a P3, I have a P2, but the front end (on my size, at least) is the same as the same sized P3, and I like it a lot.

What is 'porky'? I keep hearing this about them- do you think it was like 18 lbs? 20 lbs? 22lbs? I agree that weight does not mean nearly as much as aeroness, but still, it sucks to push a really heavy-feeling bike around a TT course, especially if there is some climbing or 3 or more turnarounds that require slowing to almost a stop and accelerating again.

How can anyone do that? Few people have been on a transition and even fewer have even seen a p4.

I went from a generic Aluminum Orbea TT frame to the Transition Expert. I love it, but it could be a case of "new bike fever". I ended up having to drive 4 hours one way to find it in a shop in my size, but I would do it again. Love that bike.

Personally, I don't care for Cervelos, though I've never had one or ridden one. I just don't like how they look.

I haven't heard a good thing about a Specialized TT bike in years. There must be a reason the Walsers are being used...
