I remember a few memories from when I was very small and I was flirting with the bicycle. I remember trying to ride my big sister's bike because her's was the only one I could get both feet on the pedals, being a girl's bike. Even then, I was frustrated never being able to balance it for more than half a second.

Then I remember borrowing a smaller bike from a friend up the street. I walked it all the way up to the top of the hill on the sidewalk and got up on it. For the first time, I actually balanced a bike! I couldn't believe I was actually riding a two-wheeler! I soon discovered that speed was the secret to balance. Now I posessed the magic power to ride a bike! Very few experiences have given me the awesome feeling I felt that day.

I remember riding my bike to school for the first time. I rode on the sidewalk, and I got in trouble with the student patrol for not riding in the street. Nobody told me I couldn't ride on the sidewalk before! I was so embarrassed as the patrol-person shouted at me and every kid walking to school started chiming in, "Get off the sidewalk!" I said, "What?" They all said, "Yes, YOU!!!"

I remember telling myself that one day, I would ride my bike down a certain hill (a steep paved path) as fast as I could pedal. That day arrived, and I got on my bike and started down that steep precipice. Immediately, I knew I was in trouble--the path was bumpy so everything was jumping up and down in my field of vision. I was going way too fast for comfort. I hit the bottom of the hill and bounced off both sides of the little wooden bridge at the bottom, then crashed in the grass. I boo-hooed pitifully until I realized nobody was around to comfort me, then I got up and walked my bike home, limping. I learned that not every cool idea is as fun as it seems.

I remember trips to the shopping mall with my friends. Our bikes made us feel cool and grown-up, especially when we went here. A couple of times, we rode all the way from Rockville, Md. to downtown Washington, DC. But my friends stopped letting me come on this trip, because I "slowed them down too much."
Looking back, I'm sure I did. But I still remember coming home to a huge plate of my Mom's homemade spaghetti afterwards. Mmmmmmm...

I wonder what memories on the bike I'll look back on ten years from now?

The earliest memories I have of riding is when I could ride a wheelie. Not just popping the wheel up for a little while but going down the street a ways.
I also remember trying to jump a ravine. I'm suprised I didn't kill myself or atleast break my bike. Landed about 3\4s of the way up the opposite side.
