Bicycle Mechanics - Steerer tube length

So im getting a 2006 khe equilibrium frame. The fork that comes stock with the bike has a steerer tube length of 175mm. The fork that i might be getting, the suelo v2, its steerer tube is 165mm. Can this work?

You should expect to cut the steerer to fit you after you build your bike. I am just finishing my SL2 and I cut a couple of inches off the fork, leaving it long and putting spacers above and below the stem. Once I've got some rides in and know how many spacers I want below the stem to suit me I'll have the steerer cut again so that I don't have any spacers above the stem. So, as long as your steerer is long enough to stick out the top of the head tube you will be OK.

BTW...if your steerer is carbon take care when you cut it. Measure twice, cut once. Wrap the steerer with tape where you're going to cut and use light, even pressure with the saw to prevent splitting. Finally, at the end of the cut the excess steerer tube is going to try to hang down. Support the end your cutting off with your hand and use very light pressure on the saw to completely cut through the steerer.

Don't buy the fork. There is nothing you can do to lengthen the steerer.

Yeah, if the steerer is too short to fit your head tube I think you're done, don't pass go, don't collect $200.
