Well sort of... I did watch 2 hours on my trainer with the TV volume down and the Ipod volume up. Very motivational! Kicked in level 4 and spun fast. Thought about puttin on my skin suit (like I really have one).
Maybe next time I'll try the Alps and do a little standing up.

Never thought about training that way. I know that in July when the Tour's in full swing, I stay away from the trainer.

You'll definitely need a skin suit if you do this too often:D

This does sound like an excellent way to watch the races.

You'd think, with 15 or so TVs at the gym, at least one could be shoowing the TdF--but noooo....

I had a friend to did something similar during football (American football) games.
Spin on the trainer, then sprint during the plays -- snap to play end -- as hard as he could.

I was pretty disappointed in reading this post, but at least I'm not jealous like I thought I would be.

Wonder how Levi would have done yesterday.......

I do a 17.0 mile standard ride once a week or so, and my PR is about 54:30, usually I do it at 58 minutes. These guys did 18.2 miles in the timetrial. The last place finisher was Wim Vansevenant (BEL), Silence-Lotto, who did it in 55:49. More than half the field did it in under 40 minutes. It amazes me how much better these guys are than me, and how weak and pathetic I really am.

Cycling is the only sport I think where you can make realistic comparisons bewteen your own performance and the pros.

Hopefully he would have used better judgement than he did in choosing to join a team that had just completed a long series of embarassingly flagrant and consequential doping violations culminating in the likely tour winner being ejected.

I don't know what Levi, Alberto and Johan were thinking, but I know that a college football recruit would have to assume that a NCAA team with that kind of baggage should be expecting some serious sanctions to come down. Changing coaches and players would not stop it from happening either.
