I have a question.......I usually wear a baseball hat under my bike helmet but right now riding in 95 degree weather its to hott to wear a baseball cap. So now I am left with my helmet, thick hair and lots of sweat rolling down my eyes making my glasses fog up oh and bugs to the eyes cause I have to take my glasses off.

What is the best way to keep the sweat off my face? I have seen some cyclist wearing a bandana but are there any other secrets???

also what are good cycling sunglasses recommendations? (I am not afraid of spending money either on glasses):thumb:

thankyou in advance!!!

Try a Headsweats brand cap.

For sunglasses check coloradocyclist.com or excelsports.com.

Buff: http://www.buyabuff.com/products.htm

I've started wearing one under my helmet and it keeps the sweat out of your eyes for quite a bite of time until the entire thing is soaked.

I agree with the headsweats suggestion. I've tried sweat gutr and hated it! A low tech solution is vasaline above the eyebrows. As far as glasses I would go to a LBS and try some on first. Some sort of venting is a must in humid or cold climates. I've had Oakleys, Specialized Photos but now I'm wearing $49.00 optic nerve photos from performance and love them.

Bandanas work too.

I keep my hair short and bandana under the helmet works fine for me. It keeps most of the sweat outta my eyes, I get to wet it down for a break in the heat and use it as a towel at rest stops.

I take off my sunglasses and try to wipe as much sweat away as I can with the back of my hand. Sometimes I use my shirt also and have witnessed other people use this technique where you lift the bottom of your shirt to your face.

good cycling sunglasses - Use what the pros use, go to home depot and get what the landscapers buy. Cheap glasses mean you can replace them more often.

cut the sleeve off of an old short sleeve t shirt and use that as a bandana.......also works great in weather that is just a bit chilly because you can pull it down over your ears.

I definitely would not have thought to check home depot for glasses...
something like these?

I sweat a lot and hate when it gets in my eyes.

I use a two sweatband strategy. I wear one and hang one on my handlebar. Whenever I stop I exchange them. On a warm sunny day it takes about the same amount of time for one either to dry or to become totally saturated on my brow.

Hi,
Yeah, try headsweats, they make several styles of headsweat bands to meet the needs of bike riders from cap like, to tie back bandanas. As far as sunglasses, there are a lot of choices out there, I highly recommend fotomatics lenses so a rider does not have to fuss much with interchangeables when riding on either the road or mountain trails. Hope you find what you need.:)

tifosi sunglasses are great, my brother has a pair, we ride on trails with them quite often, the only thing that really bugged me is that the end tips of some types will break off after about a 6 month period, some pairs don't, in any case, they are supposed to be made for athletics . . . and they aren't HORRIBLY expensive as oakleys are

Danielle, the two sweatband approach is good because one is drying with the sunshine and wind while one is on your head. Keep in mind that sweat also has body oils.

If you're riding as recreation and not racing or pretend racing or in a group ride, then you can stop any time you want to take a break to freshen up. On hot days, I have a towel tucked half way in the shorts and half out. That thin towel allows me to stop at a water fountain stop, clean the sunglasses, wipe my face, etc. That same water fountain can serve to rinse out the headband drenched with sweat and body oils.

thankyou for all the replies. I ended up getting a sweat band at the bike store and it has been a life saver. I also do take something to wipe my face off. yuck, I hate sweat on my face!
