I don't hear much mention of them in threads.
I've spent the better part of my life listening to the Dead, most mornings begin with something bootlegged from the 70's or 80's. Today was Boston 1983.

It's been a good year of Ratdog, Phil and friends, DarkStar shows. Losing count but have seen many and even traveled to FL to see them last Fall. I think my first Dead show was 1977 in Philly. I was just a wee little Dead Head then.

Just a part of my everyday and now I get to pass the torch. My boy's been to a few shows and I think he gets it.
Do you?

peace

OMG you are like my roomates years ago who used to drive me absolutely crazy. I mean there is other music out there besides listening to Jerry noodle around on a fret board :D

They listened to that crap morning noon and night. It freakin drove me nuts. They dragged me out to dead shows and I felt like I was in some sort of freak religious hall or something. Jerry was Jesus to a lot of these people for real!

Actually I liked the music especially when it was just the Jerry Garcia band with Clarence Clemons and other guests but the culture surrounding it grated on my nerves.

Not really. Had a few decent songs. Not a real fan of Phish either.

If I am going to listen to a 'jam band', I'll go with Widespread Panic.

Used to sail with a bunch of DeadHeads. I can take the Dead in short doses, but do enjoy their music. I prefer to hang out with the Parrot Heads

Slight Deadhead, here.

The Internet Archive has a bunch of recordings of Dead shows (http://www.archive.org/search.php?query=collection%3Aetree%20AND%20creator%3A%22Grateful%20Dead%22), and they'll soon be hosting the entire Sugarmegs (http://sugarmegs.org/) collection.

The Spinners?A buddy of mine married a Spinner in 1989. Last month when they visited with their 17 year old daughter Harmony, they rented a houseboat for a few days.

One night while listening to some JGB shows, his daughter joined us out on the stern deck. She came out to show us her new gausey sun dress. She spun around about a dozen times and said, "Don't you just love how it flows in the air when you twirl around?"

Dave and I just looked at each other, completely dumbfounded. Spinning like that has to be in her genes.
