From CyclingNews:

An 11-21T cassette is on hand for Cadel but only nine sprockets fit on the Ghibli disc.

:wtf:

edit: the more I search, the more I find that Campagnolo actually makes a special cassette for use with this disc wheel... 9 sprockets with 10-speed spacing! my brain is about to explode!

Your edit is correct. The Ghibli uses 9's with 10's spacing. Not anyone I've ever asked has truly known why.

The freehub body is too narrow. I suppose that if you can afford a Ghibli, you can afford a special cassette. At least it doesn't require an 8 speed Record Titanium Exa-Drive cassette.....

Because there is a space issue and an issue of the rr der hitting the disc while in the 21 or 23.

Correct about the shorter freehub body.

The disc would have to be completely redesigned to allow for 10 speeds. Camapagnolo doesn't sell enough to warrant this.

There are 2 different cassettes available: 11-21 and 11-23 (or is it 12-23?).

Still seems like shoddy design to me.

If your using a disc for a TT how many gears do you need?

There wasn't a problem until Campagnolo went to 10-spd. It just didn't make sense (economically) to redesign the disc.

There may also be aero considerations.

The number of gears needed would depend on the parcours. in the end, no amount of point-making or arguing on this forum will change the design, so it's all moot.

just seemed odd to me, is all. Especially now that Campagnolo is moving to 11-speed, I wonder if they'll revisit the capacity of the disc.

I was wondering this myself.
