I have some specialized sport shoes right now. They only have two straps and flex a little more than I would like. I tried on some Shimano shoes, the r151 and some sidi genius 4's. I'm also going to try on some nike shoes in a few days as well. I liked the carbon sole on the shimanos but the buckle on the sidi's is really nice. Anyone have experience with any of these shoes? The nike's Im looking at are the altea (not sure of the exact model name, know it starts with 'a'). I found that the sidi's and shimanos fit well in 43.5. The 43 too cramp but the 44's I had over a thumbs width of room. Thanks

And that's why I bought em. They are even more shocking in the flesh, I will post a picture tommorrow.
My girlfriend was asking me a few months ago, "why aren't you wearing your new shoes"
I answered "They make a statement I can't really back up just yet - on a club ride those shoes write checks my motor can't cash"
to which she said "They do make a statement...........that you have atrocious taste"

I was going to ask if they came with a diamond tuck seat cover but djbowen1 beat me to the pimp joke.
I think you have to be a lot faster than I am to wear these.

I can honestly say after staring at that picture that I dont know what to say. I'm thinking texas cyclist or something. Back to my original question though please :)
Over the years I bought 3 pairs of clipless shoes, hated 'em all. Last year I bought a pair of Sidis. Then I bought another pair. Good shoes.
I bouught a pair of Genius 4's 20 months ago or so and have found them really good. The buckle has fine adjustments that are very easy to make whilst on the go which is very useful for getting em real comfy.
Make sure you try different manufacturers, as you seem to have been doing, as some will fit and some wont (Specialised's ones made my feet feel like they were in a vise), however swanky they are (or aren't as in the case of those above!).

All you gotta tell her is that they were "ON SALE". A statement EVERY woman can understand. Tell her you saved money buying them. She'll think you are a genius!! :D

Sidi's...the uppers are the best in the industry and many of the parts are replaceable. For example, when the buckle broke after two years with my Nike Hautacam's, the shoes were toast. On my Sidi's, you unscrew and replace the buckle (if you buy a pair with a buckle/ratchet). The heel pads are replaceable as well.
Even if you buy Sidi Lazers or Genius 3's, the uppers are the best. Most comfortable..
I bought a pair of Sidi Genius 4 Worlds and love them. MUCH more comfortable than my '02 Specialized Comp Roads. The fit is perfect - it's more like a slipper than a shoe, but the sole and heel are very rigid. The clasp is very good - holds the fit perfectly. Really couldn't imagine a better shoe. And I got them on sale.

Have you looked at Carnac shoes yet?
Even more exotic than snake skin.... Kangaroo skin!
They are very comfy though, especially for the wider foot.

But made in Italy!!
just started using these... very comfortable. They come in a wide fitting aswell. You can replace the ratchet/buckle with ease and come with full instructions
Depends on pedals tho, think they are SDP-SL only

I'd like to know how are these buckles vs a strap?

I'm pretty sure that Sidi has a carbon sole version also.
I just bought a pair of Sidi Geniuses last summer and I'm a total convert. The fit and comfort is unbelievable. Like other people say, they are like slippers. And they look good. And you can replace the parts. And every pedal manufacturer has a Sidi instructions section for their cleats.

The buckles on the Sidi's are nice... you can ratchet the top strap in 1 click, or 1/2 click incremets... and the bottom too straps can be ratcheted a click at a time, to really give a good custom fit, you can adjsut while riding...
I had a pair of Nike Gregarios before this with 2 straps.. and they weren;t too bad.. but I hated dealing with the velcro straps to adjust them

Stiff and light... the Sidi Energy's I have have a weird dial thing in the sole to stiffen the sole, or soften it slightly... it is still pretty stiff on the soft setting... I haven;t seen a huge difference yet... it says that riding them super stiff for a long time could casue tendinitis...

I tried on Carnacs, Nikes - the Poggios fit really nice, but they just didn't feel right, and a few others, but the Sidis were perfect. I just ordered a pair of Genius 4's. Can't wait to bolt on my DA cleats and get going!

Here they are ready for action in a 6 mile time trial.
Note: Brute strength and water is no match for Aerodynamics and Modern Science. I was out of the points by 20 seconds. I should have used some Aero bars :(
