Advocacy & Safety - what should i do about this cut?

Hi, I fell on my bike today on some gravel and cut my knee up pretty bad. I ran it under water for a while but there's a chunk of skin about the size of a thumbnail just hanging there with a bare spot of skin missing. Here's a picture, sorry for the crap quality

the sideways looking traingle is the hanging skin and that patch of white above it is where i have some skin missing. What would be the best way to take care of it? Should I dump some hydrogen peroxide on it? I'm too big of a ***** to use rubbing alcohol. Or should I just stick to water?

Peroxide and water hosed underneath, get all the dirt out, brush if you have to. Then antibiotic ointment and dress with a non-stick pad. Clean twice a day as above. If the patch of skin dies or there's infection, cut it off and keep hosing out. If more than minor infection occurs, head to a clinic pronto. Best to keep dressing on - contrasts with older "air" treatment.

For cleaning, get a head mounted magnifier for this use. Bright light, tweezers. Peroxide will foam up dark junk and turn dead tissue white. I've used little scissors and a scalpel (and a Swiss army knife at times) to remove chunks of dead flesh from similar wounds. The magnifier helps greatly.

If it keeps opening, can make a butterfly closure from that paper sticky medical tape.

One thing, the EMS crews in ambulances really know how to quickly patch up the holes and stop the bleeders. If you ever need them. Call quick, before too much blood loss.

I didn't look at the pic. But I used sterile saline wound wash (http://www.cvs.com/CVSApp/cvs/gateway/detail?prodid=444795&previousURI=/CVSApp/cvs/gateway/search?page=1%5EQuery=saline%5EActiveCat=65) for my road rash. It dispenses with pressure to clean out dirt, etc. from your abrasions and didn't sting at all.

And I highly recommend Tegaderm or something equivalent to cover the wound. I wore it for a week on my arm and had new pink skin after. I was impressed by how fast it healed.
