View Full Version : MapMyRide Won't Load STP Route

MapMyRide recently released a new version and when I tried to load the STP route (which I copied from another MMR user) it would only load 59 miles. I had previously loaded it using the old version.

Anyone else had this problem or others with the new MapMyRide version?

The Edit function is also down at the moment for "enhancments to functionality".

I sent them an email about the problem.

there are a few STP routes on veloroutes as well, here's one of them: http://veloroutes.org/bikemaps/?route=2275

not sure how accurate that route is tho, but it at least has the elevation profile.

Thanks, I'll check that out. I just checked the MapMyRide Forums and discovered that they are aware of the problem in the new version with long routes, but it's not likely they'll solve the problem before I need to download the route to my Garmin; i.e. tomorrow!

I checked the above out. This one looks to be more accurate:

thx! that route does look much better, and the elevation profile looks a lot cleaner too.

btw i think the more accurate route was saved with the follow-the-road feature. (available here: http://beta.veloroutes.org/bikemaps/)

Aha! That may explain why it would not load into my Garmin Edge 705. When I tried to get the 705 to navigate the routes it said something about not being able to use more than 100 points in a follow the road route or words to that effect.

The good news is that I went back to MapMyRide just now for one last try before giving up or trying to create the route in smaller chunks or sub-routes. This time MMR loaded the route and then successfully exported it to the Edge! So now it's in there and ready to go for tomorrow.

But now that you've got me into Veloroutes I will play with it some more after STP.

Have a great ride, maybe we'll see each other somewhere....bib 2009.
