I know it's been covered before, but today's stage 5 winner, Mark Cavendish, tucks it in (http://www.cyclingnews.com/photos/2008/tour08/index.php?id=/photos/2008/tour08/tour085/DV358332). Makes it hard to wear bibs (favorite of all of my cycling apparel). Perhaps weight weenie? You would think, but not with those Pcad-esque socks. Not as baggy, but certainly as tall as Michael Cooper's socks when he played for the 80's Lakers.
Posted here because, although it is a TDF image, tucking in your jersey has been covered in this forum. Ok for racers, but not for the everyman?
Discuss.

Thanks for the spoiler.
Wait, you come onto this forum, a Bicycling forum, and expect not to know information about a race that was over hours ago? Sorry if I ruined stage 5 for you, but come on.
Spoiler? More like old news. Practically yesterday's news.

Gee,
For one some of us have busy schedules and don't get to come straight home and turn on Le Tour. Plus considering your thread title didn't even reference the race.
I am sure some even get a day behind (GASP) due to family work etc.

Cavendish's wearing a full zip. i can see his zipper at the bottom of his jersey. he doesn't tuck. in fact, no one should. your pockets would be limited...
It's like that Seinfeld when Jerry recorded the Mets game he missed, only to have Kramer blow it during the first inning.
Looks like he's wearing bibs. Those jersey's have a black waist. Check it:

My bad, but it still looks tucked with the wrinkles by the waistline. No biggie, but even me, a certified card-carrying Fred would think it weird to tuck in a jersey.

Here's to hoping they redesign that bland kit next season.

Yeah, tucking would just be silly considering the pocket issue.
That aside, what a killer win today!
Yeah, next time just put TDF spoiler in the thread title. For some reason this year my work schedule allows me to see the VS live, and replay, at least twice a day.

The only time I thought it was a good idea to tuck was when my team only offered as small as an adult S jersey and my brother was 75 lb. Even he knew it looked dorky, but it was better than dragging a parachute behind him.

Some of us here work long hours, spend time with family, then settle down for an hour or so to watch the finish of each day. And in the spirit of Botto, there is this sub forum to discuss the TdF (http://www.bikeforums.net/forumdisplay.php?f=217). That's why many of us still pop onto the general forums without worrying about spoilers.

I dont think its a skinsuit, it just looks like his jersey has a black ring on the bottom just like his sleeves do, which makes it look like the jersey and bibs are connected.

I didn't have the luxury of reading your subsequent comments apologizing for your blunder before reading the first sentence of your original post, spoiling the stage results. You could have gone back and edited your post to remove the spoiler. Even after it was pointed out to you, you continued to argue about it. Yes, you are a moron. No, I am not 9 years old.

I'm hurt. I also have noted others in this thread who saw no foul, yet I chose to recant. Who pissed in your Wheaties this morning?

You obviously didn't recant or you would have changed your post.

As they used to say on Hill Street Blues, "Let's be Safe Out There." After seeing about 1000 exchanges on spoilers for races in general and the TdF specifically, I don't understand why someone who does not want to be "spoiled" would even open the TdF forum until they determined the winner of the stage in a manner that suits them. I was an offender a couple of years ago (and learned my lesson), but really, if you want to run no risk whatsoever, don't visit the forum until you know the results. Oh and don't pick up the sports section of your local news paper either.

This was posted in the road forum. The mods moved it after the entire exchange here. I think spoilers in the TdF forum are fair game--as you said, anyone who doesn't want to be spoiled shouldn't even come here, and anyone who does here should expect discussions of current events.

Thanks for the clarification. I rarely visit the road forum.
Point of etiquette. Can one post current race items in the stage threads at the top of the TdF forum and not risk spoiling? I was going to post some pertinent news about today's stage but feared that I might be on shaky ground.

Hey...kill yourself.
Umm. OK. Nice response. Don't hurt yourself thinking of something constructive to add here.
I would think any open minded person would understand most of us are passionate about the TdF and be considerate of the fact that some of us don't get the chance to watch it all live (sorry if that logic rules you out of this conversation). Some of us really look forward to watching it when we have a chance, even if it is a few hours later.
No one died here, just pointing out ot the OP that having this in the road forum was not cool. Especially when even scrolling over the title gave the spoiler in the OP's first line of the post. He acknowledged it (although he could have edited out the spoiler from his post). Now more people understand post whatever the hell you want in the TdF forum, spoilers and all, but try to be considerate in the Road Bike forum.
I think the fact that this thread was moved over here to TdF shows what the etiquette is. If you choose not to use it you can expect to get called on it.

My understanding of the rule has been that you post spoiling comments in the thread for the days stage. Everyone knows to avoid those if they don't want to know the outcome.
Otherwise, you can't post comments that are spoilers, unless the thread is clearly labelled as a Spoiler.
As a practical matter, people probably have to assume there's going to being spoiling posts in any TDF forum thread.

I go great lengths throughout the day to avoid spoilers. The last thing I would ever do is visit a cycling website. I'd watch the damn race first.
+ 1000^
Spoiler whiners are such weenies. Welcome to the internet folks. Its called the information age for a reason. Excercise your own self control and stay off the net instead of coming up with ridiculous rules about who can post what and when b/c you work so much.
