Mountain Biking - Needing Some Advice

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Been doing some bike shopping lately, and I went to the local sports stores here in Fargo and was looking at Giant bikes. I really liked the Giant Rincon in the 20-inch, it seems to have all of the features I am looking for. When I went today to purchase it, they did not have it in the 20-inch. The guy called Giant, and they told him that they would not have anymore until late August or Early September when the '09 models come out. I have been looking online, but cannot seem to even find anyplace that even sells them online.
I have been hearing excellent things about Trek so I was wondering what Trek model is similar to the Giant Rincon. I have been looking around Trek's website and there are many different models so I thought I would turn to the expert advice on here.
I appreciate everyones advice!!!

The 3900 or the 4300 are probably going to be closest.

There's very few bad bikes these days, but the really important thing is to ride a few before you buy - it doesn't matter how good a bike is supposed to be - you want one that feels right to you. There's a huge choice of brands - certain bike mags are known for rating stuff according to how much the manufacturer advertises with them - this will always be denied, but sadly in the past magazines have been lost due to telling the truth about bad bikes - they lose their income when the advertising stops. Another reason to make your own mind up.
I wouldn't say there's too much wrong with Trek stuff, but there's better bikes out there.
if you go the trek route, dont get the 3900 over the 4300.
the 4300 if better.
