Last month I saw a movie length cartoon on TV here in Tokyo. The story was about a mother and her son, who was a cyclist racing in the TDF. The son and some other cyclists are kidnapped by French mobsters during a long hill climb, and then they are taken to New York (where else?) to race some kind of contraption while bets are placed. The mother and her dog travel to New York, where she rescues her son with the help of three crazy old women she met there.
Does anyone know the title of this movie?

Triplettes de Belleville, Les
Director/Writer: Sylvain Chomet

Edit: not quite three crazy old women. It's a bit of a rant against social injustice and deprivation in post war France....or something like that.
