Well, first time I've heard about this term, but if the shoe fits. I just picked up my first road bike about a month ago, a Trek 1000 Team Discovery Channel - as part of my weight loss efforts. I weighed in at the beginning of the year at 236 lbs, mostly caused by me working a desk job for a year, when my normal work keeps me outside and on the go. Well, I'm back outside, and happy to say that I am down to 218 lbs, with no more than eating less, no soda, and trying to avoid carbs after 6. Well, the bike, and gym membership are next on this multiple front war against my spare tire, that has gone from a truck tire to a smaller suv tire, but a tire it is, non the less. I have the bike, and there is a golds down the street running some kind of special. My goal is 195-200 lbs on my 6' 1" frame. My upper body is well built, and so are my legs, although my thighs could stand to be lightened some, most of my "stuffing" settled around the mid section. Any and all tips, and pointers would be much apreciated.
Taken in the Fall '07 - about 8 months into the desk job - just me hanging out on a boat in Florida.

One of us. One of us. One of us.
Actually I would say your well on your way to your goal. Your developing a healthier lifestyle and exercising so really there is little to add. Weight loss when done properly is a waiting game. It may seem like your busting your hump and seeing little progress on the scales but trust us in time it will come off. Sure you could go on a crash diet and drop those last 18lbs in two weeks but you'll put it right back on in a month. Take your time, continue your healthy lifestyle and most importantly, don't weigh yourself every day. Once a week at the same time, I weight in Sunday morning once I get up. Congratulations on your weight loss, you'll be sub 200 before long.
Nice bike btw, I bet that blue color just sparkles in the sun ;)

Welcome aboard, but it's not likely you'll be here much longer.

Well, hit my first snag. My bike is too small according to my LBS, and when they put me on a 58, and then a 60cm frame, it felt much more natural and comfortable. so bummed, they have a 2007 trek pilot 1.2 for 700 and a specialized allez for 1100, any input on those two bikes (they have other bikes, just the two I was looking at), and any recomendations for selling my bike, its a 56cm 2007 Trek Team Discovery Channel based off the Trek 1000....eBay - or what? I just want to get out and ride but I won't be able to buy the new bike until this is sold...
On the up side, I did go to the gym last night and rode 10 miles in 25 minutes on their little bike machines, thats probably nothing special, but my legs are sore this morning, lol - and that at least feels good..
