For no reason at all I decided to stay up most of last night and work on my programming assignment. As my music was playing I came across a song I had not heard in a long time. I heard Cakes Commissioning a symphony in C. I thought that it was very ironic that it was playing as I was programming.... hmmm it was then I realized that I needed some sleep becuase an Austrian nobleman would NEVER EVER have seen a computer much less ask for a piece of software written is C......

It just struck me as funny of how much of a tool I am, and how much sleep really means.

Dude, come and live in Queensland for a while. When the wind blows from the North, you can go days without sleeping - in fact, it isn't even a choice.

Spazegun, I like the song, but definitely avoid making the late night programming thing a habit. Goodness that's hurt me too many times. PHP is just simple enough that I can't give up, and just hard enough that it won't quite work right the first 15-20 times. :D

When I was much younger, I worked a part time job from 8-12 then my fulltime job as a second pressman. Once after my second they asked me to work a third, so I did. Got off about seven am and went to my partime job. Then back to my second shift job where they asked me to work another third, so I did. I got off at seven, rolled out of the parking lot and remember waking up at a red light about ten miles from work. Made it home and went to bed about nine. When I woke up, it was dark and I thought I had slept all day. I flipped on the tv and found it was the next morning, I had slept for over twenty hours!

Back when I was working on the boats, there would be days when I'd be practically hallucinating from lack of sleep- towards the end, I was a nervous wreck. I couldn't get any sleep at all, and barely ate. It was terrible. Then one day, we didn't have enough fish for my shift to have to get up, so they let us sleep in. I slept until they woke me up for my next shift, which was 24 hours later.

That story reminds me of when I went to Asia for 5 weeks. When we were flying back, I decided to try and stay awake for the whole flight since my flight got in at about 6AM. By the time I cleared customs and got home, it was like 7AM. I made good time, so I decided to lay down for just one little nap. When I woke up, it was still dark, so no biggie at first, then I wondered why it was so dark at 8AM... and when I looked at the clock again, I realized it was actually 8PM, and I'd slept the entire day away, with the intent on only taking a quick nap. I rolled right back over and went to sleep and slept pretty good until the next morning...
