Ok,

My clipless peds on my atb are starting to hurt...I purchased a pair of Nashbar's as a way to introduce myself to clipless...Is there a more comfortable set..are the Looks with the hollow center better?

What hurts about them? They probably just need their position on your shoes adjusted.

If your arches are getting sore they could be too far forward.

Yep, I'd try adjusting the cleats before dumping the pedals. If you can't fix it with adjustments, it might be more a problem with the shoes than the pedals. What shoes are you using?

If you're having no trouble with the engagement/release mechanism for the riding you're doing, there's no reason those pedals shouldn't do the trick.

I have a pair of Diadora's...it does have a second position....I'll try relocating em.

Maybe it's your Diadoras.....I have a pair of their road shoes and they start hurting afer a while. They tend to size them on the narrow side.
Aside from shoes, maybe pedals with more float might be beneficial.

While all the above is true, it is possible you have a bent axle. This is well known to cause discomfort, although usually in the knees. Check it out just in case.
