I'll be new to the area in about a week, but I haven't picked out a place to live yet. I'm trying to find a location that is somewhat near Preston and Hedgcoxe so I can bicycle to work. My question: how is Ohio dr. for commuting? Also, does anyone have any general tips for the area? From what I've picked up, drivers might not be uh, hospitable with road space.

Thanks in advance!

Wherever you end up, try to make it so you pedal against the rush hour flow. So you'd want to go North in the morning.

The DORBA forum has a commuter section; they are real helpful and experienced guys. Post this question there and you'll find 3 or 4 guys who pedal those roads every day.

Thanks in advance!I've found that Ohio is pretty friendly for riding, but as mentioned... you have to pick your time of day. On the light side - south in the afternoon, north in the morning, it's really pleasant. If you're on the wrong side of the north/south thing, Preston Meadow can help out.

Preston and Hedgecox? I'd definately go for either Ohio or Parkwood (which parallels Preston to the west).
Ohio has a bridge over SH 121 but the stretch by Walmart/Sams is pretty busy but the good thing
is it's only about 1/4 mile long.
I live a bit north and west of that area (frisco) and find that the drivers aren't all that bad.
That said I have more concerns about soccer mom's in SUVs than drivers who do not
want to share the road. More of a not paying attention vs aggression thing.

I just registered and will start logging my miles. I commute about 150 miles a week.
