Manufacturer, Retailer, Survey and Consumer Feedback - ShowersPass Elite 2.0 Owners- Do You Also Have Cuffs That Soak Water Like A Sponge?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I recently received my ShowersPass Elite 2.0 jacket. I've found that the cuffs soak up a tremendous amount of water, and take over 12 hours to dry completely.
I did a test, and was able to squeeze out 12 grams of water from the cuffs. In comparison I was able to squeeze out 25 grams from my kitchen dish sponge. That's a lot of water for the cuffs of a top of the range rain jacket to be soaking up, and a jacket with wet cuffs and wet shirt cuffs underneath is not a very good feeling.
Do any other Elite jacket (either the first version or 2.0) have this problem? I called ShowersPass and they said that this is the first that they have heard of it. Perhaps the factory did a material switch on them or something and they aren't aware of it. Any comments would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Z.
I have the original version and mine do not have this problem. Maybe take a before/after photo of how much water you can squeeze out of them and send that off to them. Sounds like it should be replaced by them to me.

I just got off the phone with Kyle at Showers Pass. It seems that there was a batch of jackets made with a new material on the cuffs which is extremely absorbent. They also have used a material which is rubberized, and causes no problems.
They have offered to somehow make good on it, either via return and refund, or replacement. I shall call them on Monday to sort it out.
I highly suggest anyone else who has this jacket with the neoprene cuffs to contact Showers Pass about a replacement or refund as well.

There was someone else on the forum complaining of the same thing. I have the older version and while it gets damp (I suspect it is the Velcro on mine that holds the liquid), it dos not hold near that amount of water.
The rubberized cuff might be a better idea even over the old version. Though I wonder about comfort.
They have really increased their price since I bought 2 years ago. If I need to replace, I may look elsewhere even though it is a great jacket (assuming they get the cuff problem fixed_.
Well good to hear they acknowledge the problem and are willing to make good on it.

I'm moving this thread so more will notice it. Glad to hear they are working with you, Ziemas.
It looks like I'm not the only one with this issue. Why are they still selling these clearly defective jackets?
