dont remember the last time ive been on this forum but i assume its been a really long time. it's nice to be back on this forum and riding again. i have lots of questions. but wont ask a lot today.
anyways, i just picked up a road bike last week for free from my uncle. its called "Legran," made in taiwan. have you guys heard of this brand? if so how good is it?
i got it weighed at a LBS and it was weighing at 29 lbs. i know thats a lot and i know lighter is better. if i cut it down to say 25 lbs, how much if a difference will it be in speed?
thanks again, hope to post more in the future. have a nice night all

Nope never heard of it...

Slow up hill and really fast downhill... at least that's what Newton would say!

How are you going to use it? Many commuters are on the heavier side, so it would be fine for that. Road training? Maybe, but eventually you will want something lighter.
Depending on how you ride it and for how long 4lbs could make a ton of difference. If you got very comfortable at 29lbs, then all of a sudden dropped 4lbs. off it, it would feel and handle signifigantly different.

I suspect your bike is a Legran Seville. They made them back in the 1970s. You can Google it, see what you find.

tried looking it up, Legran Seville, and found nothing. just an old post on craiglist that got deleted.
i live in lathrop (next to stockton and tracy) and majority of the roads are flat. the only time ill probably deal with elevation change is when i have to go through over passes.
with the bike i just converted to single speed. i dont want it to be fixed gear becuase i like to coast. but i want to go really really fast! =) .. i want it to loose weight. first thing im planning on doing is to get a lighter wheel set (ever heard if Jalco? are they good? someone in the bay is selling a set with cheap hubs for $100). then after that im planning on changing the seat post, and lighter handlebars.
any suggestions? thanks for all your replies..

Huffy LeGrande? I bought one when I first moved out to use for school but it didn't suit me.

thanks for the info Siu Blue.
Got a used frame for $30. it's a Centurion Super Le Mans (any good this frame?). picked it up, and i notice how light is was. so i took it. dont know to you guys, but i felt like it was a deal. it's a medium size bike, 54-55cm.. the guy that sold it to me said it takes a 27" rim. i thought all road rims are 700c? what size rim would fit on it?
well, here are the pics of my Legran and the frame i bought.
